Identification Requirements to open an account with Halifax Investment Services

Please read through this page careful to know exactly what is required when you are supplying the 100 Points of Certified identification.

You will need to supply two copies of all identification as one stays with Halifax and the other is sent to BankWest.


INDIVIDUAL / JOINT ACCOUNTS

For Halifax to be able to open an account as an individual account, we require the following document;
  • 100 Points of certified identification for each person (persons if a joint account).
    The most common identification used is a driver’s license and a passport or birth certificate.
Individual / Joint Accounts

For Halifax to be able to open an account in a company, we will require the following documents;

  • A certified copy of the Business registration certificate – this is the certificate that has the ASIC logo on the top right hand side or a certified copy of the certificate of incorporation.

  • The company extracts; this can be obtained from the national data centre website. The extract must state all directors of the account as well as the history of the account.
          
  • All the directors of the company need to supply 100 points of certified identification, even if they do not trade on the account they will still need to provide identification. The most identification used id a passport or birth certificate and a driver’s license.

TRUST /SUPERFUND ACCOUNTS

For Halifax to be able to open your account in a trust or superfund, we will need the following documents;

For a Corporate Trust (Company as trustee for the trust or superfund)

  • certified copy of the trust deed or an extract of the trust deed you will need the following pages:
    1. Title Page
    2. The Contents Pages
    3. The schedule pages
    4. The page where the trustee’s are executing the trust
    5. The page that lists all beneficiaries in the trust

  • Names and Address of all Beneficiaries in the trust.

For a Personal Trust / Superfund (Person or Persons as trustee for a trust/superfund)

  • certified copy of the trust deed or an extract of the trust deed you will need the following pages:
    1. Title Page
    2. The Contents Pages
    3. The schedule pages
    4. The page where the trustee’s are executing the trust
    5. The page that lists all beneficiaries in the trust

  • 100 Points of certified identification for each person (persons if a joint account).The most common identification used is a driver’s license and a passport or birth certificate.

If you have recently moved or you have a different address on your application to your Identification, you will need to also provide extra certified identification to Verify your correct residential address.

The above documents can be certified by one of the following people;

  1. Solicitor
  2. A judge of the court
  3. A chief Executive officer of the commonwealth court
  4. Justice of the peace – this is most common as you can find one in a real estate, post office or bank.
  5. A police officer
  6. Post Master
  7. An Accountant
